Group Motorcycle Riding | Franklin, TN | Motorcycles Tennessee
It’s perfectly enjoyable to ride a motorcycle by yourself, but if you’ve got a lot of friends who love to ride, why not go together? Group motorcycle rides are a unique experience that will produce great memories and foster companionship. It’s important to make sure that you and your fellow riders are prepared for the ride, though, so here’s what to do.
Plan Your Route
Determine your route as a group ahead of time, rather than just riding into the sunset on the appointed day. Figuring out a route means that you can avoid difficult rides that might be too curvy or too high in elevation for newer riders, and you can also try to navigate around heavy construction. Make note of places that your group wants to stop at along the way, too.
Prepare Your Motorcycles
Everyone going on the group ride needs to make sure that their motorcycles are in good working order to avoid a breakdown on the side of the road. This may mean some routine maintenance performed at home or a visit to a local mechanic. If you need help maintaining your bikes, contact the Cool Springs Powersports service department to make an appointment so that we can assist with chain lubrication, oil changes, and other tasks.
Ride in a Formation
A staggered-V formation, similar to how geese fly, is a good formation for rides. For narrow roads, a zipper formation is better, since each rider is to the left or right of the rider ahead and two seconds behind them. Put experienced riders at the front and rear of the group so that they can help anyone who needs to stop. These riders should have first-aid kits and motorcycle repair kits, too.
