Guide to Transporting a Motorcycle

There are times when you may wish to transport your motorcycle somewhere rather than riding it there. This may be because you’re planning on showing it off and you want it to look as good as possible, but it could also be because your bike is built for off-road riding and isn’t street legal. Pickup Trucks

One of the easiest ways to transport a motorcycle is by putting it in a pickup truck’s bed. The main challenge with this method is actually getting the bike into the truck bed. This is usually accomplished by using a ramp to carefully walk the bike up. Once it’s in there, secure it using tie-down straps so that it doesn’t shift during transport and cover it with a tarp to protect it from the elements. Most pickup trucks have enough engine power to handle the extra weight, but be sure to check the manual to make sure that you aren’t exceeding safe limits. 

Trailers

Utility trailers are a bit closer to the ground, so loading your bike onto one is a bit easier. As an added bonus, these trailers are typically enclosed, which will help protect your motorcycle. Obviously, you’ll want to secure your motorcycle while in motion. Some companies do make trailers specifically designed to transport motorcycles, but any trailer that has enough space and weight capacity will do as long as you secure the cargo.
